Tirupati a holy place is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh on the foot of Tirumala hill. It is well connected to the two metro cities of India that is Chennai and Bangalore. The place was well known for Govindraja Swamy Temple of 16th – 17th century.
The famous temples of this place include Sri Padmavathi Temple, Tiruchanoor, Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple and RamaChandra Koneru, Kapilatheeratham, Agastheeswara Temple at Thondavada (Mukkoti), Srinivasa Mangapuram. Tirupati Municipal Corporation covers an area of 24.00 sq.kms. There are 20 Revenue Wards and 50 Election wards including 42 Poor slums.
Tirumala is located at a distance of 20kms from Tirupati on the hill top. The place is known for Sri Venkateswara temple.
Tirupati Municipality came into existence since 01.04.1886. The grading of the municipality was done to second grade on 01.10.1962. Tirupati Municipality was upgraded to Municipal Corporation On 02.03.2007. The area of the Municipal Corporation is 16.59 sq.Kms.
