The Sri Venkateswara Zoo Park is at Tirupati. It is a mythological based small zoo which houses wide range of Animals, Birds, Reptiles and Flora. The area covered by the Zoo is about 2212 Hectors. The zoo witnesses thousands of visitors every year. At the entrance gate the stone craving on the door resembles the sculpture of Indian GOD. At the entrance the quote from Bhagwad Gita has been engraved “I am the eternal seed of living beings”.

The Zoo currently houses 138 reptiles, 349 birds, and 168 mammals. The Stump-Tailed Macaque (Afacaca arctoides) makes this zoo famous. This Zoo is built by Central Zoo Authority of India and showcases the innovative and unique design. ECO-Tourism has been developed by Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation.

The species found at the Zoo are Rhesus macaque, Indian fox, Bonnet macaque, macaque, Stump tailed Baboon, Lion, Wolf, Tiger,  Dhole,  Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Four horned antelope, etc.

How to reach Sri Venkateswara Zoo

The Zoo is located in Pudipatla Post at a distance of 12 Kms from the Central Bus Station, 12 Kms from the Tirupati Railway Station and 31 Kms from the Airport.

June to March are the best months to visit the Zoo.

Talakona Waterfall

The Talakona waterfall is a part of Sri Venkateswara Park. It is located in India in Chittoor District of the state Andhra pradesh. It is the highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh with a 270 feet fall. The place is also known for the Lord Siddeshwara Swamy Temple located near the waterfall.

Talakona is a Telgu word which literally means head hill. Talakona metaphorically means “the head of the Seshachalam hills”. Seshachalam hill is the starting point of the  Tirumala mountain ranges.

The combination of nature and beauty near waterfall attracts many tourists. The local people believe that the herbs in Talakona can be used for treatment of diseases. Due to the wide variety of plant and species present in the region, it was declared as Bio-Sphere Reserve in 1989-90. Talakona is considered as a part of Eastern Ghats is also known for trekking.

Talakona can be reached from Tirupati by APSRTC bus or via private transport. There are APTDC guest houses in Talakona which has 12 non A/C rooms and a restaurant. In near future APTDC has plans for tree-top restaurant and Machaan cottages.

How to reach Talakona

Talakona is located in Yerravaripalem Mandal of Chittoor District at a distance of 49 kms from Tirupathi, 220 kms from Chennai, 23 kms from Bakarapeta (the nearest town) and 105 kms from Chittoor.

The Talakona waterfalls are located at about 45 minutes walk from the guest house. The trekking path can be used to reach up the hill near the origin of the water steam. Do not forget to take a trek guide.

Regional Science Center in Tirupati

The Regional Science Centre was established in 1993 by the central government of India. It is also known as 'Scientific Temple' and can be included in Tirumala Trip. There are many working models in the Science Centre which are very attractive and educative. The models are placed in the closed room and lawns. The models demonstrate different physics and chemistry theories like gravitational force, magnetic force and other laws. The Taramandal Show shows the planetary positions of planets and stars in the sky which attracts visitors. A new section of Animal Center have been introduced which displays different animals with their sounds. 

How to reach Regional Science Centre

The Regional Science Centre is located at a distance of one kilometre from Alipiri Toll Gate. The place is at a distance of 8 kms from Bus stand, 9 kms distance from Railway station and 2 kms distance from Alipiri .
